The Opportunity
The Literacy Program Coordinator, has dual accountability: leading the successful delivery of the organization’s signature reading program while also owning the reading program's curriculum design, training, and impact evaluation.
Program Delivery: This role leads the launch and successful delivery of the signature reading program, which runs twice per year for 10 weeks each cycle. The literacy Program Coordinator is accountable for achieving full participant capacity, managing 10–15 Facilitators, and ensuring high- quality program execution with support from the Programs Team.
Enablement: This role also serves as the organization’s expert in literacy and reading program design; developing curriculum, training Reading Coaches and Facilitators across all programs, designing participant assessments, and leading reading assessment outcomes.
This is a new role created to professionalize both the signature program delivery and the curriculum design as the organization scales. The role requires expertise in literacy program design, instructional methodology, and outcomes measurement.
Key Responsibilities
Signature Reading Program Delivery (40%)
- Lead the end-to-end launch and successful delivery of the signature reading program (2 cycles/year, 10 weeks each) plus lead the online Reading Program on Demand (RPOD) cohorts.
- Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies to achieve full participant capacity each cycle
- Manage and coordinate 10–15 Facilitators to deliver high-quality programming
- Oversee participant experience from registration through program completion
- Collaborate with team on logistics, scheduling, and program tasks
- Troubleshoot delivery issues and ensure program quality standards are met
Curriculum & Educational Program Design (20%)
- Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of literacy program curricula
- Apply evidence-based instructional design principles to create engaging, effective learning experiences
- Develop learning assets, participant materials, and facilitator guides
- Ensure curriculum reflects diverse cultural perspectives and meets the needs of equity-deserving communities
- Stay current on literacy research, pedagogical best practices, and innovations in the field
Training & Capacity Building (10%)
- Design and deliver training programs for Reading Coaches, Facilitators, and volunteers
- Develop onboarding materials, training modules, and competency frameworks
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities and coaching support
- Assess training effectiveness and adjust approaches based on feedback and outcomes
- Collaborate with Sr. Program Coordinators (Community Engagement & Digital Learning) to address delivery team skill gaps
Assessment & Evaluation (15%)
- Design and implementation of participant assessment tools to measure learning outcomes
- Develop program evaluation frameworks and data collection methodologies
- Analyze program data to identify trends, successes, and areas for improvement
- Prepare impact reports for internal stakeholders, funders, and the Board
- Ensure assessment practices are valid, reliable, and appropriate for diverse learners
People Leadership & Coaching (5%)
- Recruit and onboard Facilitators for the signature reading program
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance oversight to Facilitators
- Mentor and direct the Program Admins supporting signature program delivery
Collaboration & Quality Assurance (5%)
- Partner with Sr. Program Coordinators (Community Engagement & Digital Learning) to ensure curriculum is implemented with fidelity
- Establish and maintain quality standards for program delivery
- Participate in program planning and strategic discussions with the Director and leadership team
Events & Special Initiatives (5%)
- Lead planning and execution of major events (e.g., annual Literacy Festival) within area of responsibility
- Attend evening and weekend programs and events as required

Cultural Responsiveness: Designs curriculum and assessments that reflect diverse learners; ensures materials are inclusive and accessible; incorporates community voice into program design
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in literacy education, reading tutoring and/or reading curriculum development for young learners based in the Science of Reading instruction
- Experience with program evaluation, assessment development, or outcomes measurement
- Demonstrated experience designing training programs and delivering adult education
- Strong writing skills with the ability to create clear curriculum documents, training materials, and reports
- Proficiency with data analysis and reporting
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong relationship-building skills with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive practice
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field
- Specialization in literacy, early childhood education, or reading instruction
- Experience with standardized literacy assessments (e.g., running records, DIBELS, or similar)
- Background in non-profit or community-based education programs
- Experience working with Black and other equity-deserving communities
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for training delivery
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are an asset
Additional requirements:
- Must reside in the GTA and have a valid driver’s license and full access to a vehicle for program visits, including pick up and drop off of program supplies and materials as required
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and reference checks
