Midwest is a pipeline construction contractor based in Spruce Grove, AB and serves the Oil & Gas Industry in Western Canada. Construction projects are executed in all types of terrain and conditions varying in diameter, length, and complexity. Midwest’s focus is on safety, quality, and relationships with employees, Clients, and vendors.
The Project Accountant position is a temporary project-based term and on pipeline construction projects and reports directly to the Project Manager and Director of Operations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
· Ensure all subcontractors are prequalified and have a subcontract agreement
· Keep track of all suppliers and subcontractors on site
· Collect and review daily field tickets and invoices against subcontractor agreements
· Follow up on late ticket submissions from vendors
· Assign cost codes in accordance with the cost tracking system
· Enter field tickets and match to invoices in cost tracking system
· Ensure all tickets with billable costs are collected in a legible document to submit to the Client in a timely fashion and in accordance with the contractual terms
· Participate in cost tracking and reporting activities
· Work with subcontractors to ensure accurate field tickets are processed daily
· Support billing process to ensure all approved third-party costs are submitted to Client
· Participate in project audits as required

Qualifications/Key Competencies:
· A university graduate with a Finance, Mathematics or Accounting background or an equivalent combination of studies and related experience
· Proficient in computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and other accounting analysis that may be required by management
· Excellent computer skills and high proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications
· Knowledge of DTC (Ineight Billings) and Explorer Eclipse is considered an asset
· Accounting experience on construction projects is considered an asset but is not required.
· Superior written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent time management skills
· Ability to work well as an integral part of a project team
· Strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail
· Able and available to work on a Project schedule (Generally 6 days on - Sunday off; 6 AM to 4 PM). This schedule may be subject to change depending on the Project requirements.

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
