Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Health and Community Services, the Program Coordinator leads the day-to-day coordination and delivery of DBNC's Financial Wellbeing and Poverty Reduction programs. The role oversees program operations, supports staff and volunteers, ensures compliance with funder and organizational requirements, fosters community partnerships and referral networks, and helps ensure residents have access to financial wellbeing, income, and basic-needs supports. The Coordinator also contributes to program planning, reporting, and continuous improvement, while providing direct client support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of assigned programs, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in accordance with funder requirements, organizational policies, and program objectives.
- Supervise, coach, and support program staff, students, and volunteers to promote high-quality, client-centered service.
- Monitor program operations, identify service gaps, and recommend improvements to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
- Ensure consistent client intake, eligibility screening, referrals, documentation, follow-up, and case management practices.
- Respond to complex client concerns and coordinate appropriate referrals to internal and external community resources.
- Maintain accurate program records and prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports while ensuring compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Monitor inventory, program supplies, and resource levels, ensuring materials are available and used responsibly.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with community agencies, funders, and service providers to strengthen collaboration and referrals.
- Coordinate outreach activities, workshops, and information sessions to promote program awareness and community engagement.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, privacy, information security, and organizational policies, and promptly report incidents or risks.
- Contribute to program planning, evaluation, continuous improvement, and the achievement of DBNC's strategic priorities.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the position.
Qualifications (Skills/Knowledge/Experience)
Required:
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Services, Community Development, Social Work, Public Administration, Project/Program Management, Financial Empowerment, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
· Minimum two (2) years of experience in community or non-profit program coordination. Experience supervising staff, students, or volunteers is an asset.
· Experience working with low-income, newcomer, racialized, senior, or other underserved communities.
· Experience in program planning, community outreach, partnership development, data collection, documentation, and reporting.
· Knowledge of poverty reduction, financial wellbeing, income and benefit programs, utility affordability, food insecurity, housing instability, and related community supports.
· Strong leadership, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and client service skills.
· Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn case management and reporting systems.
· Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practices.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners.
