Mathnasium of Cambridge is a family-run math learning centre serving students from K through Grade 12. We teach math so kids understand it, master it, and love it. Using the Mathnasium Method, we deliver individualized instruction that builds real confidence alongside real skill, aligned to the Ontario curriculum.
Position Summary
We're looking for an ambitious, organized, and personable Assistant Centre Director to work alongside our Centre Director in running day-to-day operations. This is a leadership role that blends instruction, family relationships, and centre operations. You'll help create a welcoming, high-performing environment where students thrive and parents trust the process.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow into greater leadership responsibility within the centre and, over time, take on more of the operational and sales side of the business.
Key Responsibilities
This role spans a wide range, from hands-on instruction to higher-level centre leadership. Day to day, you'll:
Instruction (day-to-day, on the floor)
- Teach and tutor students directly, one-on-one and in small groups, using the Mathnasium Method
- Guide students through their personalized Learning Plans
- Administer and score diagnostic assessments to identify learning gaps
- Answer homework questions and help with test prep
Instructional Leadership
- Oversee the instructional floor to ensure every student is engaged and receiving high-quality instruction
- Manage student flow and pacing during busy shifts
- Train, coach, and mentor instructors on the Mathnasium Method and centre standards
- Help build and adjust Learning Plans based on assessment results
Family & Customer Experience
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents through excellent communication
- Hold parent conversations on student progress
- Support enrollment conversations and follow up with prospective families
- Help schedule assessments and centre visits for new families
- Support re-enrollment and retention of existing students
Centre Operations & Leadership
- Support daily centre operations to ensure things run smoothly and efficiently
- Oversee administrative tasks, including student progress tracking and record-keeping
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming centre environment
- Step into a leadership role and run the centre when the Centre Director is unavailable
- Delegate tasks and hold the team accountable
- Take on growing responsibility for centre performance over time, with room to grow toward Centre Director-level duties

- Confident with math – comfortable with material up through at least Grade 10-12 level
- A natural leader – able to guide and motivate a team of instructors

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in math, education, or a related field required
- Previous tutoring, teaching, or leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication skills, both with children and with parents
- Reliable availability for after-school and weekend shifts
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (WRPS) required
