Job Overview
European Natural Solutions Inc. is an importer and distributor of Eastern European food products, including Ukrainian, Polish, Lithuanian, and other European brands, supplying grocery retailers, independent stores, and other customers across Western Canada. We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Sales Account Manager to manage and grow our customer base throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers while actively identifying and acquiring new business. The position combines account management, business development, customer service, sales analysis, and coordination with our warehouse, accounting, and delivery teams.
The position’s reporting location is Delta, BC. The role requires regular customer visits throughout Metro Vancouver and other areas of British Columbia, as well as periodic travel to Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Customer Service
- Manage and develop relationships with existing customers in British Columbia and Alberta.
- Maintain regular contact with customers through in-person visits, telephone calls, and email.
- Monitor customer ordering activity and work to maintain consistent order frequency.
- Review customer orders and ensure accurate entry into the company's CRM system.
- Inform customers about new products, incoming shipments, promotions, pricing changes, and changes to commercial terms.
- Assist customers with product assortment selection and recommend suitable products based on their needs.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales by expanding product listings and introducing additional products.
- Monitor product availability and recommend appropriate substitutions when necessary.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve service, delivery, product, return, and quality-related issues.
New Business Development
- Identify and acquire new retail, wholesale, and distribution customers throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
- Develop weekly and monthly plans for prospecting and customer visits.
- Research potential customers and target markets, including retail chains, independent stores, distributors, and other suitable businesses.
- Build and maintain an up-to-date database of prospective customers.
- Use online research, industry directories, marketplaces, catalogues, and other sources to identify potential business opportunities.
- Conduct cold calls, introductory emails, and in-person visits to prospective customers.
- Present the company, its brands, products, and competitive advantages to potential customers.
Sales Presentations & Commercial Offers
- Determine prospective customers' requirements, including product assortment, purchasing volumes, pricing expectations, and delivery requirements.
- Prepare catalogues, price lists, presentations, and commercial proposals.
- Organize product presentations, tastings, and demonstrations where appropriate.
- Develop customized product and pricing proposals based on individual customer requirements.
- Recommend product assortments, discounts, promotional programs, and other commercial terms.
- Negotiate pricing, product listings, promotions, and terms of cooperation with customers.
Customer Development
- Follow up with new customers after initial orders and deliveries.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and service quality.
- Collect customer feedback and address issues when necessary.
- Evaluate the growth potential of individual accounts.
- Develop strategies to increase purchasing volumes, order frequency, and product assortment within existing accounts.
Accounts Receivable & Order Management
- Monitor customer accounts and accounts receivable.
- Follow up on outstanding payments when required.
- Monitor order fulfillment, shipment schedules, and delivery timelines.
- Keep customers informed regarding order and delivery status when necessary.
- Coordinate with the accounting and warehouse departments to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Assist with resolving claims, returns, shortages, and product quality concerns.
Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with the warehouse and delivery teams regarding customer orders and delivery requirements.
- Prepare daily delivery route plans based on order volumes, customer locations, and required stops.
- Assist in optimizing delivery schedules and routes.
- Coordinate shipments to customers in other provinces, including Alberta.
Market Analysis & Sales Planning
- Monitor competitor products, pricing, promotions, and market activity.
- Analyze customer demand and sales performance across different product categories.
- Identify market opportunities and changing customer preferences.
- Participate in product assortment and sales planning.
- Provide feedback regarding products with strong growth potential and emerging market opportunities.
CRM, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and current customer information in the company's CRM system.
- Maintain and develop the prospective-customer database.
- Document customer visits, communications, opportunities, and follow-up activities.
- Prepare regular sales and account-management reports.
- Prepare monthly reports on existing customer accounts.
- Prepare weekly reports on new customer development activities and prospects.
- Provide management with sales information and market feedback to support business decisions.
Team Coordination
- Work closely with warehouse, accounting, delivery, and management teams.
- Coordinate with sales representatives and specialists in other provinces to maintain a consistent approach to sales and customer development.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Advanced proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
- Russian and/or Ukrainian language skills are strongly preferred and considered an asset due to the nature of our customer base and products.
- Proficiency in other Eastern European languages is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Eastern European food products, retail markets, consumer preferences, or business culture is considered a strong asset.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- A company vehicle will be provided for business-related travel and customer visits.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout British Columbia and Alberta as required.
- Previous experience in sales, account management, business development, or B2B customer service.
- Experience in food distribution, grocery retail, wholesale, or consumer packaged goods is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, presentation, sales, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships while actively developing new business.
- Comfortable with cold calling, prospecting, in-person customer visits, and developing new accounts.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing orders, pricing, commercial proposals, and customer documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
