Job Summary:
In the role of CNC Machinist, API Threading at Force Inspection Services, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to cut, repair, and recut API threaded connections on oilfield tubular products in accordance with API 5CT and 5B standards, engineering specifications, and Force Inspection's quality management system. This is a specialized position focused on precision threading of casing, tubing, and related oilfield tubular assets, and it requires demonstrable prior experience working with API thread profiles, thread gauging, and the tolerance discipline required for sour service and high-pressure oilfield applications. The role supports high-throughput oilfield operations and requires strong technical judgment, the ability to work within a structured API-aligned quality and safety environment, and the capacity to mentor junior personnel on threading-specific procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and customer specifications for oilfield tubular assets, including API threaded connections, to determine machining sequences, thread parameters, and tolerances.

Program CNC lathes for precision API threading operations, including the development and adjustment of threading logic, tooling paths, and pass sequences to meet Force Inspection's QMS requirements and API 5CT and 5B standards.

Verify and validate threading programs prior to production runs, identifying and correcting potential issues related to thread profile geometry, taper, lead, crest and root tolerances, and material performance under oilfield service conditions.

Set up and operate CNC lathes (including DMG Mori lathes), horizontal band saws, and other manufacturing equipment used in the threading and preparation of oilfield tubular products, applying advanced knowledge of conversational programming.

Perform precision measurements using API thread gauges, calipers, micrometers, and related precision instruments to verify thread conformance and dimensional accuracy, with emphasis on API-specific quality control checkpoints.

Prepare written machining and threading instructions or job setup documentation for API-threaded components and other tubular products to support consistent production and repeatable quality outcomes.

Conduct preventive maintenance on threading machines, tool holders, and inserts, documenting maintenance activities and reporting any equipment outages to maintain production efficiency and threading accuracy.

Collaborate with the Machine Shop Supervisor and other team members to optimize threading procedures, reduce scrap, and enhance the efficiency of API threading operations.

Train and mentor junior staff on API threading techniques, gauge handling, safety protocols, and adherence to Force Inspection's HSE program and Occupational HSE Regulations, fostering a culture of continuous learning and safety.

Assist in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives, actively participating in improving safety measures and complying with HSE regulations specific to the oilfield services industry.

Communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding job status, ensuring customer satisfaction through professional conduct and timely execution of threading and manufacturing orders.

Establish and implement efficient methods to meet work schedules, coordinating threading work activities with inspection, hydrostatic testing, and other downstream units within Force Inspection Services.

Resolve threading or production issues by applying well-developed problem-solving skills, recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality, and incorporating new methods into existing practices.

Participate in internal quality reviews and root-cause analysis when threading or production issues arise, contributing technical input to corrective actions tied to API conformance.

Prepare production reports and threading documentation as required, ensuring accurate record-keeping for all threading operations and supporting the ongoing improvement of the API quality program.
Wage/Salary: $37.74/hour

Skills Requirements
Education: Secondary School Diploma required
Work Experience: A minimum of three years of verifiable work experience as a CNC Machinist in an oilfield tubular or precision threading environment, including demonstrable hands-on experience cutting, recutting, or repairing API 5CT or 5B threaded connections..
Skills/Licensing:

Verifiable experience programming CNC lathes for API threading operations, including conversational programming, with a strong working knowledge of G-code and M-code as applied to threading cycles.

Demonstrated experience machining API-threaded tubular products.

Demonstrable knowledge of API 5CT and 5B standards as they apply to threading, gauging, and inspection of oilfield tubulars.

Proficiency in the use of API thread gauges (ring and plug), calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools, with the ability to interpret gauge standoff and apply API acceptance criteria.

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings for oilfield tubular products, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and API thread call-outs.

Ability to operate required manufacturing equipment, including CNC lathes and horizontal band saws.

Ability to independently interpret job requirements and translate engineering and API specifications into threading programs and setup instructions.

Ability to document threading processes, setup instructions, and job notes to support quality assurance, repeatability, and API audit readiness.
