As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse (Fetal-Neonate Cardiology Program Nurse) supports the Fetal-Neonate Cardiology Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Lois Hole Pavilion site and works out of the Stollery Children's Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital sites. Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Stollery Pediatric Cardiology Ambulatory Services, the incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards including coordination of care for maternal patients with complex fetal cardiac conditions, providing educational counseling, safety instructions, and follow-up planning. Decisions are made in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Recognizes the value of and works with a Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy, providing safe, quality care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent experience in past 2 years of Fetal-Neonate Cardiology Program required. Previous case management experience and knowledge required. Antenatal education experience specific to understanding Fetal-Neonate Cardiology required. Execute/manage quality improvement initiatives required. Understand and involvement with research required. Fetal Clinical database experience required. Knowledge of adult learning methodology is required. Program data management/develop program guidelines required. Determine resource utilization and direct referrals to appropriate health care providers required. Demonstrate assessment, critical-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and patient care skills required. Self-direction, adaptable and flexible working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment required. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required. Reliable, dependable and requires the ability to work independently and effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Detail-oriented and able to establish priorities to meet deadlines in a timely manner required. Requires excellent working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email and Calendar. Required to lift, push, and pull to transport patients and equipment. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Connect Care experience, including reporting a definite asset. Netcare training and experience preferred. Intelli-space CV-echo, advanced Excel and PowerPoint a definite asset.
