Senior Interior Designer Overview
Juliette Interiors is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly organized Senior Interior Designer to join our growing team. This leadership role is ideal for a confident designer who is passionate about creating exceptional residential spaces and has the expertise to lead projects from initial concept through construction and final installation.
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will oversee multiple custom homes, renovations, and additions while leading clients through every phase of the design process. You will be responsible for developing design concepts, mentoring junior team members, coordinating with consultants and trades, and ensuring every project reflects the high standards and design philosophy of Juliette Interiors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of residential renovations, additions, and custom home projects from concept to completion.
- Develop creative design concepts, space plans, construction drawings, and detailed presentation packages.
- Produce and review floor plans, elevations, millwork drawings, and 3D renderings using Chief Architect.
- Prepare comprehensive selections packages, specifications, finish schedules, and furniture plans.
- Source and specify furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, tile, flooring, and decorative finishes.
- Manage client relationships, lead design presentations, and confidently guide clients through the decision-making process.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, trades, and suppliers throughout all phases of each project.
- Review shop drawings, material samples, and construction details to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Oversee procurement, budgeting, ordering, and installation schedules.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, answer trade questions, and resolve design challenges.
- Mentor and support junior designers by reviewing drawings, providing feedback, and encouraging professional growth.
- Assist with styling completed projects for professional photography and publication opportunities.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging products, and innovative design solutions.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in residential interior design, with experience managing projects independently.
- Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect is required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar design software is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, detailing, millwork, cabinetry, building materials, and project coordination.
- Excellent understanding of construction documentation, specifications, and procurement processes.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with a client-focused approach.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and confidence making design decisions independently.
- Ability to mentor and collaborate with junior designers and other team members.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for client meetings, site visits, and showroom appointments.
