Smile 4 Therapy Center is a multidisciplinary therapy center providing individualized services to children, youth, adults, and families in clinic, home, community, and virtual settings. We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate occupational therapist (OT) to join our team as an independent contractor.
The Opportunity: Occupational Therapist As an occupational therapist with Smile 4 Therapy Center, you will play an important role in helping clients develop the skills they need to participate more confidently and independently in everyday life. This role is ideal for an OT who values client-centered care, family collaboration, functional skill development, and flexible service delivery across clinic, home, community, and remote service options. The occupational therapist will provide assessment, treatment planning, intervention, documentation, and consultation based on each client’s strengths, needs, and goals. Clients may require support in areas such as fine motor development, sensory processing, self-regulation, emotional regulation, daily living skills, school readiness, play skills, functional independence, participation in routines, and community-based skills. At Smile 4 Therapy Center, our administrative team supports therapists with scheduling, client coordination, intake support, and communication with families. This allows the occupational therapist to focus on clinical assessment, intervention, consultation, documentation, and collaboration with the care team.
What You Will Do
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments to identify client strengths, needs, functional challenges, and treatment priorities
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, families, caregivers, and the clinical team
- Provide evidence-informed occupational therapy intervention based on client goals and clinical recommendations
- Provide in-person and/or virtual consultation or intervention services, where clinically appropriate
- Support development in areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, emotional regulation, self-care, feeding-related routines, daily living skills, play skills, school readiness, and functional independence
- Provide strategies and recommendations to support participation at home, in the clinic, at school, and in the community
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as clinically appropriate
- Educate and coach families, caregivers, and team members on strategies that support generalization of skills across settings
- Collaborate with other professionals, which may include behaviour therapists, speech-language pathologists, social service workers, educators, physicians, and community partners
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress updates, reports, and recommendations as required
- Maintain professional, ethical, and regulatory standards in accordance with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience working with children, youth, or adults with developmental, behavioural, sensory, emotional, or functional needs
- Experience supporting clients with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, sensory processing differences, learning needs, or related conditions is considered an asset
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, teaching, and family-coaching skills
- Strong time management, organization, and professionalism
- Ability to provide virtual services or consultation where clinically appropriate
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are preferred for in-person, home, and community-based services
- Current CPR and First Aid certification are considered assets
- Bilingualism in English/French or English/Arabic is considered an asset
