We are looking for a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Bakery Assistant (Seasonal) to join our team during our busy holiday season. This is an entry-level, but important role that supports our Bakery Team by helping keep daily production running smoothly and ensuring our products are prepared, packaged, and stocked to Unger's Market standards.

What You'll Do
Bakery Production & Packaging
- Package and/or wrap baked goods and prepared foods for sale in-store according to Unger's Market standards.
- Package and label products for weekly wholesale delivery.
- Pick and label products, and restock shelves throughout the day.
- Assist customers with general inquiries and take orders over the phone.
- Assist Bakery Team with regular equipment and facility cleaning duties.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Monitor product quality and remove products that are not suitable for sale.
Additional Bakery Duties
As time allows, you may also assist with:
- Preparing ingredients and completing prep tasks, such as chopping fruits and vegetables and refilling ingredient bins.
- Completing simple finishing tasks, such as melting chocolate, topping products, and cutting squares.
- Operating commercial mixers and ovens after appropriate training.
- Preparing tea biscuit mixes.
- Following basic recipes and accurately measuring ingredients.
Daily Production & Restocking
- Complete daily production tasks according to established schedules and priorities.
- Track production using the Bakery Production Log.
- Check inventory and restock shelves and coolers throughout the day.
- Complete full restocking before lunch and again in the afternoon.
- Check restocking needs before leaving at the end of each shift.
- Prepare products and packaging for the following day's production.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices when stocking packaged products.
- Communicate unfinished tasks or production concerns to the appropriate Team Lead or Manager.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable following recipes and detailed instructions.
- Able to accurately measure and scale wet and dry ingredients.
- Comfortable learning to use a variety of kitchen and bakery equipment.
- Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and product quality.
- A positive team player who works well independently and with others.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to learn and take direction from Bakers and Team Leads.
- Customer-service oriented and comfortable interacting with customers in person and over the phone.
Previous bakery, kitchen, food production, or retail experience is an asset but is not required. Training will be provided.
Schedule & Availability
This is a seasonal position supporting our Bakery Team during our busy holiday season. Availability may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, and weekends, depending on operational needs.
