OUT OF SCHOOL CARE ROOM LEAD
The Trico Centre is currently hiring an Out of School Care Room Lead. This position is responsible for the daily care and supervision of children within the Out of School Care program. There is a heavy emphasis on customer care and the daily running of the program to meet facility and patron requirements. This position is responsible for the day to day operations and routines of the play rooms.
Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older
-
Early Childhood Educator certification from Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulation, preference will be given to those with Level 2 or Level 3 ECE certification

Current First Aid and CPR Certification or willing to obtain one prior to employment
-
Current Police Security Check with Vulnerable Sector search dated within last six months is mandatory (required prior to first day of work)

Able to work Monday-Friday within the general scope of operations 6:45am-6:00pm (Split shifts 6:45am-9:00am, 2:00pm-6:00pm required)

High Five and Physical literacy training considered an asset
Performance Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Demonstrates and promotes a clear understanding of Trico Centre for Family Wellness mission, vision, values and goals

Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Out of School staff manual and Trico Centre’s policies and procedures

Works cooperatively with all levels in the organization (supervisors, staff, members, and patrons)
-
Delivers high levels of customer service to all members and patrons which reflects the operational policies, practices, and philosophies of the Trico Centre for Family Wellness
-
Works in collaboration with team members to plan and implement a variety of safe, fun, creative, and developmentally appropriate activities in accordance with the Trico Centre Out of School Care Staff Manual

Supervises and interacts with all children in the program
-
Provides feedback regarding program operations and participants to the Out of School Care Supervisors on a timely and regular basis
-
Must attend 80% of scheduled staff meetings on a weekly and monthly basis
-
Works cooperatively and effectively with Out of School Care Educators to prepare and implement planned activities
-
Facilitates and participates in a wide variety of activities including skating, swimming, gym/ outside, crafts, music, drama, science activities, and group games/ activities

Utilizes and implements appropriate resources and themes that correspond with program planning expectations as outlined in the staff manual

Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods in guiding individuals or groups towards task accomplishment

Role model’s appropriate child guidance and behaviour management skills.

Observes, records, and reports child interactions, activities, and trends to be used for future planning and room set up. Observes, records, and reports child behaviours to be used for documentation and intervention plans

Provides the ability, patience and skills to work with other departments and leaders so they profit from their experiences and grow both in leadership capacity, understanding of people and the value of recreation

Delivers appropriate child guidance skills in accordance with Early learning and Child Care Act and Regulation and Trico Centre policies

Demonstrates and maintains good judgment, dependability, flexibility and effectiveness when working in changing environments, situation or on new tasks
-
Runs programs and conducts themselves according to the standards set forth by Trico Centre and the Province of Alberta Licensing Standards

In cooperation with Supervisors and team members, facilitates clubs, leadership projects, and special events
-
Develops alternative solutions to problems and sets appropriate and effective priorities in one’s own activities as well as those of the participants
-
Maintains clean facilities, ensures proper care, maintenance and use of equipment. Leaders will be responsible to ensure the facility is clean and tidy with equipment put away at the end of the day

Takes responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and craft supplies
-
Displays a professional attitude at all times when meeting with the public, in personal appearance, and manner of dress when working with participants in a public community facility

Maintains program records as required

Anchors and facilitates the room structure and set up within the developmental needs of the targeted age group

Attends and maintains current certifications required for the position and participates in ongoing learning and development opportunities

Ensures that the developmental needs of the children are being met

Work Schedule:
This position start date is August 24th 2026
Morning shifts Monday – Friday, 6:45am – 9:00am and Afternoon shifts Monday – Thursday 2:00 – 6:00pm, Fridays 12:00 – 6:00pm, with the possibility of more hours during PD days and school breaks. Weekly average is 30 – 35 hours per week.
Flexibility will be required during the hours of 6:45am – 6:00pm when required to meet the needs of the program.
