About this role
We're looking for someone who's genuinely hard to find. This role sits where engineering execution meets commercial performance, and, increasingly, where the business meets its AI tools. On one side, it takes the rigour to stand behind every number: to trace a KPI back to its formula, its source, and the decision it's meant to support. On the other, it takes someone fluent enough with modern AI — Microsoft Copilot, Power BI's AI features, AI-assisted Excel — to turn raw data into a clear story in a fraction of the usual time, and clear-headed enough to know when the model is wrong.
But this role has grown past "analyst who uses AI." You'll be the human hub in the middle of EIL's analytics and AI build-out: translating leadership's questions into requirements our internal software developer and external consultants can build against, partnering with IT on the data access and security that lets it all scale, and orchestrating the outputs of multiple AI agents — sales and pipeline, capacity, financial — into one validated, trustworthy picture leadership can act on. If you want to help shape how a company puts AI to work rather than just consume it, this was written for you.
What you'll do
AI enablement & orchestration
- Use Microsoft Copilot, Power BI AI features, and AI-assisted tools to accelerate report creation, insight generation, and automated narrative summaries (what changed and why it matters) - then apply judgment to validate every output for accuracy, relevance, and business context
- Act as the orchestration point across multiple AI agents (sales/pipeline, capacity, financial): validate their outputs, flag conflicting signals, and package findings into something leadership can act on
- Translate business questions and KPI definitions into clear requirements our internal software developer can build against, and partner on AI-agent and automation workflows
- Help scope, gather requirements for, test, and roll out new analytics and AI tools alongside external consultants and internal stakeholders
- Partner with IT on the data access, security, and implementation practices that let business analytics scale
Engineering analytics
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards tracking drafting hours, capacity loading, milestone performance versus baseline, and rework trends
- Analyze hours expended versus budget by drafting activity and product group, and run department loading analysis to flag capacity, leveling, and resource risks early
- Prepare variance and root-cause reporting for leadership and manager review
- Pull rework hours from timesheet data, categorize quality and rework drivers, and support structured corrective-action discussions
- Reinforce accurate time tracking and data coding across the drafting team to protect data integrity
Sales & business development analytics
- Analyze sales performance by product line, region, channel, and salesperson; track revenue, conversion rates, average deal size, and pipeline health
- Prepare sales forecasts and demand projections, and support quota setting and territory planning
- Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales performance reporting, and prepare the Monthly Sales Report with senior leadership across Sales, Business Development, and Engineering
CRM, data quality & governance
- Own HubSpot data hygiene and governance; keep opportunity, pipeline, and customer data accurate and complete, and analyze deal progression and stage velocity
- Define and maintain EIL's KPI dictionary, definitions, formulas, owners, refresh cadence, data source, and the decision each metric supports
- Implement automated data-quality checks (completeness, duplicates, stage hygiene, time-coding accuracy, outliers) with exception reporting, and run monthly data-quality reviews with functional owners across Sales Ops, Engineering, and Finance
Insights & executive support
- Identify underperforming areas and emerging growth opportunities, and turn them into clear, data-driven recommendations
- Deliver custom reports and analysis on request from leadership
What you bring
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline
- 2–4 years in a business, engineering, or commercial analytics environment
- Practical, hands-on experience using AI tools to support analysis and reporting — Microsoft Copilot, Power BI AI features, AI-assisted Excel — paired with the judgment to know when the output is right and when it isn't
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure data tools
- The instinct to sit between business and technical builders. Turning a fuzzy business question into a clear, buildable requirement, and holding AI and automation output to a real standard before it reaches leadership
- Strong Excel (Power Pivot a bonus) and the discipline to standardize templates that feed reliable reporting
- Working proficiency across Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive), HubSpot CRM, and Power BI
- SQL for querying and joining data, and experience with APIs/connectors (HubSpot to Power BI)
- Statistical thinking (trends, seasonality, forecasting logic) and structured problem solving: root cause, variance analysis, corrective action
- Genuinely clear communication. The ability to take a tangle of data and hand leadership a story they can act on
Strong assets
- Exposure to automation and agent platforms such as Copilot Studio or Power Automate
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)
Work environment
- Primarily office-based at our Calgary / Fort Saskatchewan area facility
- Frequent, day-to-day collaboration with Engineering, Drafting, Sales, Business Development, Estimating, Finance, Operations, and IT
- A fast-paced setting where multiple teams (and a growing set of AI tools) depend on your numbers being right
Room to grow
Depending on your strengths and interests, this role can open into estimating and product sales support, business development and market analysis, opportunity sizing for new markets and customers, and go-to-market and customer-facing work.
