Position: Registered Nurse – Oncology
Location: Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, PEI
Start Date: ASAP
Contract End Date: September 30, 2026
Potential Extension: January 30, 2027
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 3–4 years of full-time equivalent Oncology Nursing experience
- Current active nursing license or eligibility to practice in Prince Edward Island
- Recent oncology clinical experience in an acute care setting
- Ability to provide safe, patient-centred oncology care
- Strong knowledge of oncology treatment protocols and patient monitoring
Required Certifications & Supporting Documentation
Candidates must provide:
- Current certification in the administration of chemotherapy through de Souza Institute or equivalent
- Certificate or training in the Administration of Cancer Related Systemic Therapies
- Current BLS certification
- Updated resume outlining oncology experience
- Valid nursing license documentation
- Any additional supporting documents required for hospital onboarding
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients receiving cancer treatments
- Safely administer chemotherapy and systemic cancer therapies according to established protocols
- Monitor patients for treatment responses, adverse reactions, and complications
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Provide education and support to patients and families throughout treatment
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow hospital policies and procedures
