POSITION 1: FULL-TIME SALES ASSOCIATE & GROOMING CONCIERGE
This is primarily a grooming front-desk, booking, and customer-sales position.
The main priorities are helping manage grooming appointments, selling appropriate grooming services and upgrades, securing rebookings, supporting customer reviews, and making sure every check-in and checkout is handled accurately.
Retail sales of treats, toys, and pet products are also part of the role, but grooming operations come first.
Your Main ResponsibilitiesAccurate Grooming Check-Ins
For every appointment, you will:
- Welcome the pet parent and dog
- Confirm the customer’s correct contact information
- Confirm the dog’s name, breed, age, weight, and booked service
- Ask about allergies, skin sensitivities, health concerns, and behavioural needs
- Review previous grooming notes
- Record the customer’s requests clearly
- Make sure all information is entered correctly
The assigned groomer must be called to the front for the grooming consultation.
The groomer will confirm the haircut, coat condition, service details, timing, limitations, and any additional charges directly with the pet parent.
Sell Grooming Services and Upgrades
You will be trained to explain and recommend:
- Full Grooms
- Mini Grooms
- Luxury Baths
- De-shedding treatments
- Teeth brushing
- Blueberry Pie Facials
- Hypoallergenic options
- Paw and coat treatments
- Other available grooming upgrades
Recommendations should be helpful, personalized, and clearly explained.
Rebook Grooming Customers
Before customers leave, you will:
- Ask when the groomer recommends the dog return
- Offer available appointment dates
- Book the next visit whenever possible
- Confirm the date and time
- Explain the benefits of regular grooming
Rebooking is one of the most important parts of this role.
Complete Professional Checkouts
You will:
- Confirm all services and upgrades were entered correctly
- Process payment accurately
- Apply approved promotions
- Review the groomer’s notes or report card
- Rebook the next appointment
- Refer technical questions to the groomer
- Thank the customer warmly
Request Customer Reviews
When a customer is happy with the service, you will politely ask them to leave a Google review.
Any customer concerns should be brought to the manager promptly so they can be handled professionally.
Manage Calls and Appointments
You will also:
- Answer calls and return voicemails
- Book, reschedule, and cancel appointments
- Maintain accurate customer and pet profiles
- Contact customers when their dogs are ready
- Follow up with customers who are due for grooming
- Help fill open appointment times
- Ask a groomer or manager when you are unsure
Secondary Retail Responsibilities
Once grooming priorities are handled, you will also help with:
- Selling premium dog treats, chews, toys, and pet products
- Processing retail purchases
- Restocking and organizing merchandise
- Maintaining displays
- Monitoring low-stock and expired products
- Keeping the front area clean and welcoming

POSITION 2: DOG GROOMING APPRENTICE
Paid 12-Month Professional Development Program
This position is designed for a recent graduate of a recognized, full-time dog-grooming program who is ready to turn formal training into a professional grooming career.
Applicants should already have foundational knowledge of bathing, brushing, drying, nail care, clipper work, scissoring, sanitation, and safe dog handling.
You will work closely with an experienced Groomer Coach and gradually progress from supervised grooming tasks to completing full grooming appointments independently.
What You’ll DevelopMonths 1–3: Strengthen the Fundamentals
You will build consistency in:
- Bathing, brushing, and professional drying
- Nail trimming and ear cleaning
- Sanitary trims
- Safe dog handling
- Coat assessment
- Preparing tools and workstations
- Grooming notes and report cards
Months 3–6: Build Confidence
You will begin:
- Grooming dogs under supervision
- Working with different coat types
- Reading canine body language
- Handling nervous pets calmly
- Completing light de-matting
- Improving speed, consistency, and finishing quality
Months 6–12: Master Your Craft
You will continue developing:
- Breed-specific styling
- Clipper and guard-comb techniques
- Hand scissoring
- Pet trims and finishing
- Coat conditioning
- Hand stripping
- Client consultations
- Full ownership of grooming appointments
The program follows a clear progression:
Learn it together → practise it with supervision → complete it independently.
You will not be expected to perform a task alone until you have demonstrated that you can complete it safely and consistently.
Bonus Skills That Will Help You Succeed on Our Team
Your primary focus will always be developing your grooming skills. Helpful team skills include:
- Assisting experienced groomers with preparation and salon support
- Helping with customer check-ins and checkouts when asked
- Communicating professionally with pet parents
- Supporting future grooming rebookings
- Politely reminding happy customers that they can leave a review
- Being flexible and willing to help during busy periods
These are not the apprentice’s main front-desk duties. They are valuable skills that help create a well-rounded professional groomer.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be a recent graduate of a recognized, full-time dog-grooming program
- Provide proof of graduation or program completion
- Provide grooming photographs or a portfolio
- Have foundational bathing, drying, clipper, scissoring, and dog-handling skills
- Be reliable, punctual, patient, and safety-focused
- Be open to coaching and constructive feedback
- Be committed to building a long-term grooming career
- Be comfortable working with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Complete all required Woof Gang training courses
Professional salon employment experience is not required.
Compensation Progression
Compensation grows as your skills and responsibilities increase:
- Phase 1: Hourly pay while strengthening foundational skills
- Phase 2: Approximately 30%–40% commission
- Phase 3: Approximately 40%–45% commission, plus tips
- Program Graduate: Up to 50% commission, plus tips
