FAMILY PRESERVATION WORKER(S)

About the position:
McMan’s Ninanaskomon Program is seeking passionate and experienced Family Preservation Worker(s) to join our team supporting Indigenous children, youth, and families within Enoch Cree Nation, Paul First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Alexander First Nation, and surrounding communities.
In this rewarding role, you will partner with children, youth, and families to build on their strengths, enhance family well-being, and support positive outcomes. Using a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and family-centered approach, you will provide family preservation services through coaching, advocacy, case management, and practical support that promote safety, stability, and healthy family relationships while strengthening connections to community, culture, and natural support networks.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of Indigenous communities, family systems, child development, mental health, addictions, domestic violence, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma. Responsibilities include providing individualized and family-focused support, developing and coordinating service plans, facilitating skill-building opportunities, and collaborating with community partners to connect children, youth, and families with the resources they need to achieve their goals and strengthen family well-being. This role requires regular travel to partner First Nations and surrounding communities, including frequent driving and providing services in a variety of home, community, and culturally based settings.

Hours: A Variety of positions available: Casual, Part-Time (22Hrs/week), Full time (40 hours/week) (flexibility required and willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate family’s schedule.)

What you’ll do:
· Develop effective working relationships with families and the community
· Develop strong partnerships with a multi-disciplinary team
· Provide non-clinical counseling and mediation
· Create comprehensive reports using Microsoft Office programs
· Foster open-mindedness and maintain healthy, supportive relationships.
· Provide crisis management support as needed.
· Offer support and guidance to youth and families
· Support competency skill development for all members of the family
· Design and implement effective interventions for children, youth, and families.
· Fulfill on-call and frontline responsibilities as required.
What you bring:
· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtaining registration within three months of hire.
· Six months of directly related experience in family/youth work
· Police Information Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Strong counseling, mediation, crisis intervention, program planning, leadership and communication skills
· Strong assessment and intervention skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
· Knowledge of family dynamics, addiction, domestic violence, mental health disorders and complex behaviors
· Excellent knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
· An understanding of Collaborative Service Delivery and Signs of Safety are an asset
· Emergency First Aid-Level C CPR + AED.
· Class 5 driver’s license, current driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle, $2 Million auto insurance and comfort with driving to various locations are required. Three years’ driving experience with a valid class 5 license is an asset.

· Computer/Word processing skills.
