Protrans Personnel Services is currently recruiting for a permanent Customer Service Representative – Inside Sales position with a well-established distribution company in Halifax, NS.
This opportunity is best suited for someone with experience in a distribution, wholesale, branch, order desk, counter sales, or technical product environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting customers with quotes, pricing, order entry, product availability, inventory questions, supplier coordination, and customer follow-up.
Experience in electrical distribution, electrical wholesale, industrial distribution, HVAC, plumbing supply, building materials, construction supply, tools, safety, MRO, or similar technical product industries is strongly preferred.
This is not a call centre role. This is a branch-based customer service and inside sales role supporting business customers, account managers, and daily branch operations.
As the Customer Service Representative – Inside Sales, you will provide professional customer service and sales support in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to customer inquiries by phone and email
- Processing customer orders, quotes, pricing requests, billing inquiries, and order updates
- Checking product availability, inventory, pricing, and delivery timelines
- Supporting inside sales, counter sales, and account management activities
- Assisting customers with product information, order status, and service requests
- Coordinating with suppliers, vendors, warehouse teams, branch staff, and outside sales representatives
- Handling returns, warranty matters, claims, and customer concerns
- Entering and maintaining accurate customer, order, pricing, and billing information in ERP/internal systems
- Building strong customer relationships and supporting repeat business
- Identifying customer needs and recommending suitable product or service solutions
- Managing multiple customer requests and priorities in a branch/distribution environment
The successful candidate will bring a combination of customer service, inside sales, order desk, distribution, and technical product experience.
Required qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service, inside sales, order desk, counter sales, sales support, or account support
- Experience in a distribution, wholesale, branch, industrial, construction, or technical product environment
- Experience handling quotes, order entry, pricing, inventory availability, customer purchase orders, or supplier coordination
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong administrative, organizational, and follow-up skills
- Comfortable using ERP systems, order entry systems, CRM tools, or similar business software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to learn technical products and explain product information to customers
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage orders, pricing, and customer requests accurately
- Positive, professional, customer-focused attitude
Preferred experience:
- Electrical wholesale or electrical distribution experience
- Industrial distribution experience
- HVAC, plumbing supply, building materials, construction supply, tools, safety, MRO, or related industry experience
- Counter sales or branch customer service experience
- Experience supporting account managers or outside sales representatives
- ERP experience such as SAP, Oracle, AS400, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, or similar systems
- Technical product knowledge or willingness to learn technical products
