Skills Development and Employment ensures that people with disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs by matching them with employers seeking qualified job candidates. In addition, they offer support with assessments, rehabilitation and child and youth programs.
This Opportunity:
We are looking to hire one (1) Employment Support Worker for a full-time role in our Kitchener region.
Responsibilities:
The Employment Support Worker works as part of the Vocational Rehabilitation Team to provide a variety of employment supports to consumers preparing/ engaging in employment, including but not limited to:
- Job Retention Support: Provide individualized coaching and support to employed participants to promote long-term job success and positive employment outcomes.
- Collaborative Service Delivery: Work closely with the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist to deliver coordinated and tailored services in response to participant needs
- Transition Support: Assist job seekers in their transition to employment by establishing a clear plan for ongoing communication with March of Dimes; ongoing assessment of employment needs (i.e. transportation, work clothing) and identifying early intervention strategies.
- Participant Engagement: Conduct scheduled follow-ups with participants, including completing required documentation such as surveys and obtaining pay verification.
- Retention Coaching: Offer practical strategies and guidance to help participants manage workplace challenges and maintain employment stability.
- On-Site Job Coaching: Liaise with both clients and employers to assess coaching needs and implement tailored in person support plans.
- Employer Liaison: Act as a bridge between employers and candidates—gather feedback, identify necessary accommodations, and explore available Employment Ontario Employer Supports (e.g., financial incentives).
- Workplace Support & Analysis: Provide on-site support and conduct job and job site analyses to ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
- Program Promotion: Participate in outreach and marketing initiatives to raise awareness of Employment Services programs and build community partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Social Services or a related field from a recognized college or university.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and experiences of individuals with disabilities.
- Previous experience in vocational rehabilitation or employment services is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and employers.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail in documentation and follow-up.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, email platforms, and data entry/case management systems.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to job sites and employer meetings.
Salary: $38,900 per annum
