What you'll do
The Revenue Assurance Analytics, which sits within Customer and Energy Analytics, is seeking a specialist engineer to
provide technical leadership in energy balancing as well as distribution grid, load, and asset planning related analytics that
leverage the SMI data foundation.
This job requires deep understanding of distribution system engineering practices and principles. As a certified professional
engineer, the successful candidate will:
- Engage in highly complex engineering assignments, researching major issues and independently formulates innovative
approaches in the development of techniques, procedures and programs to solve the most complex, unusual or difficult
problems.
- Provide expert engineering advice within Hydro and liaises internally and externally with other engineers and officials in
the investigation of problems and the application of new or special engineering methods.
- Work independently in the technical specialty and is accepted as a technical expert in the industry, with recommendations
involving long range plans or significant resources referred to management for approval. May assign portions of work to
other engineers, consultants and technical support staff, and direct and check work.
The role will have accountability for supporting the implementation of strategic projects that may include but not necessarily
limited to:
- Working with the team’s data scientist to refine analytics used to generate leads for Energy Balancing to detect instances
of theft, safety risk and equipment failure contributing to energy imbalances within the distribution system.
- Managing large-scale projects directly related to the team’s grid health and revenue assurance function (e.g., check meter
replacement project)
- Managing non-standard metering and billing mechanisms for our largest transmission voltage customers in situations
where traditional metering is unavailable due to equipment failure.
- Represent Revenue Assurance Analytics in the development of local level bottom up system planning models in
collaboration with Distribution Planning, Load Forecast, Local Governments and the shareholder.
What you bring
- Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities.
- 10+ years of experience in the relevant engineering field including considerable electric utility experience. Familiarity with
Energy Analytics Solution is an asset.
