Westmount Shopping Centre is a busy retail shopping centre serving the surrounding community. The site requires high-visibility patrols, monitoring of entrances and common areas, incident response, and customer service engagement. Security personnel maintain a welcoming yet proactive presence to ensure the safety of tenants and shoppers.
Position: Full Time Security Supervisor

Pay Rate: $22.50/hour
Overtime Method: Employment Standards Act (ESA)

Job Duties:

Supervise, mentor, and support the on-site security team during assigned shifts.

Conduct regular patrols of the mall, exterior grounds, parking lots, and common areas.

Monitor activity during peak traffic periods, including school lunch hours, and proactively address safety and security concerns.

Enforce the mall's Code of Conduct, the Trespass to Property Act, and applicable legislation.

Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, disturbances, alarms, fire alarms, suspicious persons, and property damage.

Coordinate emergency response procedures and liaise with police, fire, EMS, and mall management when required.

Review and approve incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily activity logs for accuracy and completeness.

Ensure security equipment, radios, keys, CCTV systems, and access control systems are properly utilized and documented.

Monitor CCTV systems and coordinate appropriate responses to observed incidents.

Build positive working relationships with tenants, contractors, visitors, and mall management.

Ensure compliance with Paladin Security policies, client procedures, and health and safety requirements.

Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and performance management of security personnel.

Other job related duties as assigned by the management
Prerequisites:
-
Valid Ontario Security Guard License.

Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.

6 months to 1 year supervisory or team lead experience in security is a must.

Previous experience in retail environment is preferred

Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act, Mental Health Act, and applicable legislation.

Strong conflict resolution, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience writing detailed reports and conducting investigations.

Proficiency with CCTV, access control systems, Microsoft Office, and basic computer applications.

Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

Physically able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.

Legally authorized to work in Canada.
