The School of Climate Change and Adaptation is seeking one Student Research Assistant to assist with a grant-funded research project on Sustainable AI.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with implementing and evaluating machine learning algorithms for transformer model compression and Sustainable AI

Conduct computational experiments using Python and PyTorch on benchmark natural language processing tasks

Analyze experimental results, generate figures and tables, and help prepare technical reports and research manuscripts

Perform literature reviews on transformer pruning, model compression, and related machine learning topics

Contribute to maintaining well-documented, reproducible research code using Git
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a current UPEI student
-
Upper-level undergraduate student in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline

Strong programming skills in Python

Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals and deep learning concepts

Experience with Linux, Git, and scientific computing tools is desirable

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment

Previous academic research experience is desirable
Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
