Overview of Position:
The Process Technician supports Manufacturing by converting customer requirements for open die forged parts into accurate production instructions including shop routings and other supporting documents such as engineering drawings. This role evaluates and develops optimal process plans that balance quality, manufacturability and cost while coordinating with multiple departments to ensure efficient execution.
Responsibilities:

Creation of internal shop order documents detailing production sequence, heat treat requirements, quality test requirements and material restrictions.

Review customer purchase order and sale orders to verify alignment with customer requirements.

Review customer specifications and drawings to determine methods and materials required for manufacturing.

Investigate alternative processing that best suits the customer in terms of quality and delivery while reducing manufacturing costs.

Add necessary information or review previous orders to retrieve missing data.

Confirm estimated forging sizes and weights to insure compliance with internal engineering rules.

Review machining sizes and required machine operations to insure efficiency.

Produce CAD drawings as required.

Investigate nonconformance reports, determine root cause and recommend corrective action.

Solicit input from shop personnel to assist in creating process plans with optimal manufacturability.

Focus on detecting and escalating potential manufacturing issues at the front end.

Collaborate with Sales, Materials/Planning, Metallurgy, Production and QA to validate manufacturing plans are clear and executable.

Comply with H&S management program to future job postings.
Experience:
-
Technologist diploma or equivalent experience in technical/manufacturing field.

2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/metalworking environment.

Ability to read and interpret complex industrial specifications and drawings.
-
Technical ability to understand manufacturing processes, material specifications, costing, and shop floor terminologies.
-
Previous experience with simulation and/or modelling software would be an asset.

Knowledge of open die forging process is an asset.
-
Knowledge of manual and/or CNC machining is an asset.

Good computer skills with proficiency to Microsoft Office Suite.

Proficient in solid modeling (Solidworks preferred).

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong detail oriented technical writing and documentation skills

Self-directed and able to work collaboratively with other teams
