Overview
Foward House is a Christian supportive recovery housing program for men with a history of alcohol and substance abuse. This position is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of Forward House's programs and walking alongside our participants in their daily activities, including case management and goal setting.
Priorities
Primary:
- Working with participants in the program to set tangible goals for their recovery, and meeting with them regularly to hold them accountable to those goals. Working with the Executive Director to develop and deliver programming that may be beneficial to the participant's holistic well-being, including anger/stress management workshops, recovery programs, and health and nutrition classes.
Secondary:
- Lead the screening and intake process for new participants, conflict management, making recommendations regarding discipline procedures or dismissal from the program following any major rule breaches, drug testing and room checks, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Approximate Breakdown of Time:
- 50%: one-on-one case management. Forward House values relationships and this role is primarily to foster these interactions. Participants take part in weekly meetings to set goals for their recovery journey and this position will hold them accountable to achieving those goals. The programs and case manager will work with the house manager to ensure that program expectations are being met - participants remain sober and respectful to others, attend mandatory programming, and complete their weekly room cleaning and house chores.
- 25%: delivery and development of programs. This position is responsible for the development and delivery of Forward House's programs. They will work with volunteers to implement any needed recovery, life, or job skill programs for the participants. They will lead the weekly classes/workshops.
- 10%: intake procedures. Schedule and take part in intake interviews with the house manager, then complete the onboarding procedures for new participants
- 10%: other duties. Supporting the rest of the team and participants, including being part of the bi-weekly house meetings, monthly team meetings, supervising program volunteers, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Expected Hours of Work:
- Weekdays: 4 weekday shifts, from 8am to 4:30pm
- Evenings: One evening shift/week to be determined with the Executive Director
- Weekends: One Saturday/month to be determined with the Executive Director
Many of our participants re-enter the work force and are only available to meet outside of regular work hours, therefore the programs and case manager will be expected to work one evening per week, and one Saturday per month, based on the needs of the program.
Qualifications:
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Checks
- Knowledge of addictions and the barriers faced by vulnerable populations. Candidates with lived experience is preferred.
- Supports the vision, mission, and statement of faith of the organization
- Proficient in English language skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office 365
- Experience with development and delivery of programs and services
- Experience with case managment and accountability practices
- Experience with data entry
- Willing to learn and grow in their role and responsibilities
