The Construction Assistant Site Superintendent will coordinate and complete production tasks according to predetermined priorities and plans, providing leadership support serving as a liaison between the crew and Superintendent, assisting in creating construction schedules, enforcing quality standards, monitoring project performance, managing project expenditures and maintaining a safe work environment. Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Assist in creating daily, weekly, and monthly construction schedules to meet project completion timelines and labor budget parameters.
- Provide leadership support and support the supervision and coordination of day-to-day activities of the crew.
- Assist in hiring, training, and assigning employees, crew, and subcontractors, providing coaching, counseling, and discipline if necessary to achieve high performance and quality.
- Assist in monitoring and managing employees, crew, and subcontractors' performance, communicating job expectations, evaluating job contributions, and recommending compensation actions, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Support the enforcement of best building practices by conducting daily inspections to maintain construction quality standards, resolving design problems, and implementing change orders.
- Contribute to providing construction information for strategic plans and reviews.
- Assist in implementing production, productivity, and customer-service standards.
- Assist in resolving problems and identifying construction management system improvements.
- Assist in monitoring project expenditures and identifying variances for labor, equipment, and materials.
- Implement corrective actions, under supervision, to meet construction budget.
- Assist in preventing fines and interruptions by enforcing codes and regulations.
- Support the maintenance of a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Follow standards and procedures and comply with legal regulations.
- Assist in resolving work challenges and recommending measures to improve productivity and quality.
- Contribute to enhancing the organization's reputation by accomplishing new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
- Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in similar roles.
- Knowledge and expertise in concrete work, forming, and all trade activities.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Understanding of all safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure health & safety standards.
- Experience in project cost estimation and budget management.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Ability to track record of successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Experience conducting and facilitating safety training programs.
- Problem-solving ability and proficiency in creating cost-effective solutions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
- Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
