Junior Quantity Surveyor
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our in-house Calgary team of costing professionals and become an integral part of our legacy of delivering cutting-edge cost management services where we have built a reputation for delivering accurate, reliable, and innovative quantity surveying and construction cost consulting services throughout Western Canada since 1982.
As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the delivery of construction cost management services across a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Working collaboratively with our in-house team of quantity surveyors, estimators, and cost consultants, you will assist with cost planning, estimating, tender analysis, and project cost monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.

You will collaborate with our in-house team of multi-disciplinary cost professionals, expanding your knowledge base of all disciplines within the profession.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
· Assist with the preparation of cost plans, elemental estimates, and trade estimates at various stages of design.
· Assist in preparing tender documentation and evaluating contractor bids.
· Obtain pricing information from contractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
· Assist with project cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial monitoring.
· Conduct site visits to verify construction progress and completed work.
· Maintain estimating databases and cost information.
· Ensure compliance with Canadian construction standards, contract requirements, and company procedures.
· Collaborate with project teams to deliver accurate and timely cost management services.
Education and Experience
· Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related disciplines.
· Credentials: Membership with, or eligibility for membership, in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and/or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is considered an asset
· Experience: 0–3 years of experience in quantity surveying, estimating, construction cost consulting, or a related construction field Co-op, internship, or construction industry experience is considered an asset.
§ Basic understanding of Canadian construction methods, materials, and building systems.
§ Experience working in the Alberta and Western Canadian construction markets is considered an asset.
Key Requirements
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with estimating, quantity take-off, scheduling, or cost management software is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
